1 man embarked on the project of rebuilding the temple: He started…then the project got stalled for 20+ years. In 30 years of activity, this was his testimonial report:-

Then the same Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundation of the house of God which is in Jerusalem; but from that time even until now it has been under construction, and it is not finished.”
Ezra 5:16

The second man embarked on same project from where it had stalled for 20 years + and successfully completed it in his lifetime. This was His testimonial report:-

So the elders of the Jews built, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they built and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the command of Cyrus, Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.

Quick Understanding Before We Pray

Headship matters in the bible. With every headship is the ‘suggestion’ of the spirit (driving force) that is attached to it. The spirit behind it ultimately influences the generational experience/destiny of those aligned with it either to completion or incompletion.

“Sheshbazza & Zerubbabel lived during the same time. They were both governors during the reign of King Cyrus. Sheshbazzar was the first to be commissioned with the work of rebuilding the temple at Jerusalem which He started but couldn’t carry far.
Some 30 years late Zerubbabel was commissioned to do same by the new King Darius. But unlike Sheshbazzar’s time, He succeeded and completed the work to God’s great glory.

We will reserve many details for our next class, but understand certain quick facts:

  • Both men where sufficiently mobilized by kings.
  • Both men faced considerable opposition.
  • The 1st move stalled and remained stagnant. The Second move succeeded greatly.
  • One key distinguishing variable between the 2 moves and the two men was the availability of GRACE.
  • One had enough grace to start but not finish. The other had grace to start and finish!
  • Behind Zerubbabel’s headship was abundant grace Zech 4:7. Enough to level the mountains of opposition and challenges that faced him. Grace driven by the Spirit of God as foreman, not by the might of man, nor by any other power which saw Him prevail where others failed. Zech 4:6

Who is head (enthroned) over the building project of your life is crucial to your outcomes. Just as those who followed Saul didn’t amount to anything 1 Sam 13:7 but those who followed David became chief men 2 Sam 23 .

This headship thing is not just external – but internal also. The headship of Sheshbazzar vs Zerubbabel also plays out within a man just as the war between Flesh and Spirit

Prayer: Calling forth the Headship of Double Grace

  1. Heavenly Father, today I wholly subscribe to the headship of double grace in all aspects of my life. If i have been operating under the headship of Sheshbazza in building my marriage; in building my economy; in building my ministry; in building my heritage – today i repent of that mindset. I ask for the help of the Spirit in renewing my mind accordingly and i ask that you translate every aspect of my life to come under the headship powered by abundant grace.

  2. Lord Jesus. Saul settled for 2 loaves (common grace) 1 Sam 10:4 and could not complete the journey. David pressed for 5 loaves (abundant grace) 1 Sam 21:6 and was able to successfully deliver for generations after.
    In anyway i have settled knowingly or unknowingly for less than the portion you have made available for me to be complete in every facet of my life, Today i arise like the prodigal son and approach your throne of grace to place a demand for the full measure that “falleth unto me”.

  3. Holy Spirit of the living God. Just as in 2 Sam 3:1 arise and give continuous victory to the Zerubabbel elements in my life even as you weaken the Sheshbazza elements. I wholly yield the __________ facet of my life for the overflow of abundant grace to begin flow richly. All that we have been struggling to complete and finish, we receive grace to bring it to successful completion even as you establish it in Jesus name.

  4. Heavenly Father, I thank you for my earthly fathers/mothers and those whom you have sent ahead of me in my lineage. I raise a voice for the rising of the headship of Zerubabbel which brings double grace to take prominence in my Fathers house. I ask that the spirit of grace to level mountains and bring things to completion begin to find expression and dominance in my siblings and the entirety of my paternal and maternal lineage in Jesus name

  5. Heavenly Father, Begin to bring forth the Zerubbabel Headship in my Husband-in our marriage-and in our Home. Drastically weaken every Sheshbazzar nature in us until it is no more. 2 Sam 3:1 Let our testimony permanently change from the 1st experience into the 2nd in Jesus name.

Heavenly Father, I raise a voice for the rising of the headship of great grace in Christ Jesus to take prominence in my Fathers house, I ask that the spirit of grace to level mountains and bring things to completion begin to find expression and dominance in Jesus name. [Pray same for your Kindred experiences]

  7. Heavenly Father, We declare that the will of the people of this nation will be restrained towards the
    Sheshbazzar type of leaders who may mean well but have no capacity to deliver and wholly in favor of the Zerubbabel headship that can bring this nation to its place of glory! We reject every spirit of start and stop in the mighty name of Jesus.

  8. Heavenly Father, You are the great GOD of recovery! You never change. Today arise and sanction recovery for me [us/my fathers house/this nation] from every form of stagnation and delay that has plagued us. You it is who can restore the years the locust and their kind has eaten. In your infinite mercy redeem the time for us where we have languished under the reign of Sheshbazzar. Every great move which has stalled in my life/in my lineage/in this nation, kickstart it again and let your eye drive it to establishment.

  9. Lord of Hosts. Every power in any realm that seasonally, generationally and habitually rises as a mountain to bring stoppage to our progress in building. Today we ask that you cast the stone not cut with men’s hands as in Daniel 2:34 against it. We decree the written word in Zechariah 4:7 against it “What are you, O great mountain? Before ‘wale’ (insert your name) you will become a plain. Then ‘I’ will bring forth the capstone accompanied by shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’

  10. I decree according to Zechariah 4:9 that every good work that grace has begun in my life – in my family – in my fathers house – in this nation. The same shall be finished and established swiftly providing all supporting evidence that the Lord of Hosts himself is with me.
