30 “Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it.” 32 Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them. 33 As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying the colt?” 34 They replied, “The Lord needs it.” 35 They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it. 36 As he went along, people spread their cloaks on the road.
Luke 19:30-35
The colt that Jesus rode into Jerusalem took stock of all he had seen and heard about the King of the Jews who rode him on that fateful day. These are the 5 key takeaways it took to heart.
1. The King has a mission; A life is required | ‘you will find a colt tied there‘
- The King of Kings has a divine eternal purpose. He has where He is going.
- He will need a platform through which to get to that destination.
- He didn’t need to guess as to the colts location: He knew where and when..
- It is no coincidence that you have been kept in that place for such a time.
- He was specific that no one has ridden it / ought to be riding on it!
- Sadly in our day it is difficult for Jesus to find the asses to ride. Because other men/things are riding t upon them,. They are highly engaged and pre-occupied by other pursuits and ladened with things such as: The Denominational Spirit. Personal Ambitions. Philosophical/Motivational teachings.
- Galatians 1:6-9. Mathew 6:24
2. Until Jesus needs you, you will remain a stagnant captive! | ‘untie him and bring him here’
- We have been taught in class many times that the call of God is authenticated by burden! But it is also very true that the call of God is authoritative and compels all powers and institutions that have tied us down in bondage to release us unto Him. He is the ‘Master’ indeed.
- Until the Lord has need of you, your foundational powers will not let you go!
- The key to complete deliverance in this journey of discipleship is that the Lord’s need for you must be established. Abram’s call had a 3 dimensional level of deliverance embedded in it. Gen 12:1
- Christ’s voice and demand is superior in force to every other force keeping us stagnant in one place. Mathew 28:18
- Many appear to be travelling without moving ‘We Move’. But unless it is Christ who has caused you to be brought and is riding you to Jerusalem (i.e you are moving in line with His will and He is your Lord AND saviour), you are on a journey to destruction. Prov 14:12
- Have you determined His need for you? Will you be brought willingly?
3. You are brought to Him! He reveals Himself to you! | ‘They brought it to Jesus’
- Although a church might be involved in getting the gospel message to you. You must still be brought to Him personally before the journey can truly start! Don’t be brought to church and not meet with Jesus!! Go beyond the decoration, the well dressed crowd, the picture perfect choir! Don’t throng Jesus…touch Him! And if there is no road to Jesus there,, get out now!!!
- Many are brought into church to the G.O. Many are brought into church to add to the numbers. Some have been members for 10years+ but have never met Jesus or had the revelation of Jesus Christ personally released to them.
- It is because many of our churches today are guilty of the evangelism of Absalom which is all about promoting the G.O, the brand of the church, and the denomination. We go a-fishing but do not lead them to a living confrontation with Jesus.
- They brought the donkey directly to Jesus!
- Where you brought directly to Jesus? do you still maintain live contact with Him or your dwelling on your experience 20 years ago?
4. He does not leave you naked: He equips you! | ‘threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it’.
- The Colt learnt that one of the first things Jesus does when you are brought to Him is that He takes away your nakedness. He clothes and Justifies you no matter the kind of life you had lived before. Provided you change!
- He empowers you with His Spirit and anoints you for purpose!
- Never accept a Christianity without power!! Never settle for the kind of Christianity where (i) your closet prayers cannot shift anything in your sphere or the sphere of others. {ii) you cannot pray for the sick to be healed and see them healed. (iii) you cannot cast out the most basic demon and see them obey because of the authority vested in you. (iv) you cannot employ any of the gifts of the spirit to glorify God before men.
Anointing is available and necessary for all! Pay the price and receive your portion! The mantles must be put on you too! They are the tools Jesus will use to reach men through you. - 1 Cor 4:20 ”For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of words but of power”.
- 1 Cor 2:4 “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power”:
AND PUT Jesus on it! - Always Remember that it is possible to still carry the anointing power but Jesus has dismounted from you…Always check to see that He is still the one on top and you have not left Him behind somewhere along the way!
- Is Jesus still on you where they put Him? Or Is he now under you?
5. Do not be moved by the Swag and Entertainment! | As he went along, people spread their cloaks on the road
- The Colt noted that though the people spread their clothes and shouted hosannah, it was the same people who shouted “crucify Him” a day later.
- Just as the colt, you must understand that though the people spread their clothes and shouted ‘Hosannah’ Jesus was not moved. He understood that the noise was not integral to His mission.
- Too often we can enter into the habit of entertainment and form which we call worship but without actually worshipping in Spirit and in Truth. You risk running the race of Ahimaaz. ‘A good man but He had no message to move the king‘…
- As a disciple do not anchor your minds on the hosannah singing and the garment laying. These things do not amount to anything significant in the core mission. Keep your eyes focused on the mission as Jesus kept His on the cross!
May we receive mercy to be the Colt that will deliver Him to destination.
Happy Easter
