“Can this be the joyful city of Tyre, founded so long ago? Is this the city that sent settlers across the sea to establish colonies?” Isaiah 23:7 GNT

Prophetic Understanding of Tyre:

  • Jehovah gave Israel the land full of milk and honey and indeed they began to possess it by force under Joshua. But for many generations and more than 600 years they could not conquer the strongholds like Tyre which occupied the best portions of the inheritance!!!
  • God in His magnificence raised lamentation and prophetic judgement against Tyre on their behalf through His prophets Ezekiel, Isaiah, Amos, Zechariah!
  • He began by raising the armies of Nebuchadnezzar in 573 BC who destroyed the mainland of tyre
    He finished by bringing Alexander the great in 332 BC.
    When He was through with Tyre – even the soil was scraped and thrown into the ocean! Even in 2022 archaeological artefacts of Tyre cannot be found! It has been fully erased!

Tyre and You:

  • We have an inheritance here on earth Psa 16:6 and in the Heavenly places 1 Pe 1:4.
    The one on earth is given to us to have dominion through Christ in order to bring His kingdom to bare and manifest His goodness Spiritually | Economically | Socially | Maritally.
  • The enemy may not be able to keep us from the land (for He has been overthrown) but he is content to occupy the best pieces of the lot and build generational strongholds around it.
  • Tyre is like a festering wound in the life of a believer that refuses to be healed. In these dark places of the land, the habitation of cruelty is found Psalm 74:20 and the works of wickedness continue to be propagated!
  • Tyre is the portion of our inheritance that has been profaned by Satan Ezekiel 28:18 and it must be demolished for the light of God to enter that we may come into the full measure of all that God has given us which pertains to life and godliness!
  • Every stronghold of Tyre [wickedness] in our lot must be erased!

Prophetic Prayers

Prayer 1

"They shall destroy the walls of Tyre and break down her towers, and I will scrape her soil from her and make her a bare rock" Eze 26:4
  • Lord Jesus you are the triumphant warrior king! In your name I prophetically declare the demolition of every stronghold and resemblance of Tyre in my promised land. Let its walls be demolished! Let its towers be broken down to dust! Let even the base [soil] of its foundations be rooted up and scrapped into oblivion!.
  • Tyre [wickedness] shall no longer find expression in my lineage | my lot | our nation.

Prayer 2

"then I will make you go down with those who go down to the pit, to the people of old, and I will make you to dwell in the world below, among ruins from of old, with those who go down to the pit, so that you will not be inhabited" Eze 26:20a
  • In Jesus might name; every strongman superintending the stronghold[s] in our inheritance [just like the prince of Persia in Daniel 10:13] be bound in chains of iron and be cast down with your throne into the bottomless pit in Jesus name. This is the end of your occupation!.
  • We place the blood of Jesus upon our boundary markers and forbid your return forever.

Prayer 3

"So I will silence the sound of your songs, and the music of your lyres will no longer be heard". Eze 26:13
  • In the name of Jesus let every sound, rhythm and projection coming out of such strongholds in our lot echoing from generation to generation [causing us to dance to rhythms of captivity in any area of our lives] Be silenced forever! Let its subliminal influence be muted forever in our hearts and minds.
  • We arise in response to the call of Deborah in Judges 5:12 and utter a new song of victory, a new song of deliverance. Hymns of God’s faithfulness and power.
  • Fill our mouths with a new song. My children shall sing new songs! Our nation shall sing new songs of deliverance unto the Lord.

Prayer 4

"He has stretched His hand out over the sea, He has made the kingdoms tremble; The Lord has given a command concerning Canaan to demolish its strongholds." "He has said, “You shall not be jubilant anymore, you crushed virgin daughter of Sidon." "Arise, pass over to [h]Cyprus; even there you will find no rest.” Isa 23:11-12a
  • Eternal Rock of Ages today; stretch forth your hand of might over this land [the airspace, the marine space, the earth space] and over my inheritance. Violently shake the marine | witchcraft |occultic kingdoms occupying them!
  • Issue the command to your angels that excel in strength to demolish any remaining strongholds keeping us from possessing the full measure of the inheritance!
  • End every Jubilation of the kingdom of darkness over my life | my fathers house | my lineage | and over this nation! Give us joy where we have lacked rest and peace!
  • Empty out the strongholds of its inhabitants and cause them to pass out of our lot forever!

Prayer 5

"but I will set beauty in the land of the living" Eze 26:20b
  • Heavenly Father, You who is matchless in beauty! You have promised to give beauty for ashes! Isa 61:3 In every place where the stronghold of Tyre is demolished and erased, Arise and set beauty in its place!
  • Let our spiritual life show forth your beauty! Let our marital Life show forth your beauty! Let our economic life show forth your beauty! Let our social lives showcase your beauty! Let our children show forth your beauty! Let my lineage show forth your beauty! Let this nation show forth your beauty!

Prayer 6

"But in the end her profits will be given to the LORD. Her wealth will not be hoarded but will provide good food and fine clothing for the LORD’s priests". Isa 23:3
  • Lord Jesus. Triumphant warrior king! As you demolish every stronghold of wickedness in our lands, in our lineages and in our portion. Lord recover for us the treasures and the wealth, and the profits hidden away in the vaults of Tyre by the strong man.
  • Henceforth let the treasures [milk and honey] you have deposited inside the land [and inside our lives] begin to serve kingdom purpose! Our generations shall bring it to serve your kingdom and show forth your praise!

Prayer 7

"Who has planned this against Tyre, the bestower of crowns, Whose merchants were princes, whose traders were the honored of the earth? 9 The Lord of armies has planned it, to defile the pride of all beauty, To despise all the honored of the earth."
  • Alpha. Omega. Great God of Wonders! You gave Israel the land full of milk and honey and indeed they began to possess it by force under Joshua. But for many generations and almost 1,000 years they could not conquer the strongholds like Tyre which occupied the best portions of the inheritance!
  • It was you who took up lamentation and judgement against Tyre on their behalf through your prophets! It was you who brought the nations from afar and the armies to law waste to their strongholds!
  • Unchangeable changer! You did it for Isreal then – Do it for us now – Do it for this Nation now.
    Bring the judgement – Bring the downfall – End the tyranny – Bring forth the beauty and splendour in its place. Glorify yourself again and again from generation to generation even as we bow in awe and worship of your Holy Name
  • Thank You Father! Thank You King of Kings. Thank You Lord of Hosts. Thank You everlasting conqueror!

CASE STUDY: PROPHECY FULFILLED

Jeremiah 1:12 tells us that God watches over His word to perform it. In historical Tyre and Sidon we see the word of prophecy spoken through Ezekiel, Isaiah, Amos, Zechariah brought to perfect fulfilment right to the very minutiae!

Fulfilled Prophecy: Tyre’s mainland would be destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar

Bible prophecy: Ezekiel 26:7-9
Prophecy written: Between 587-586 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: 573 BC

In Ezekiel 26:7-9, the prophet said in 590 BC that Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar would destroy the mainland of Tyre. Four years later, the Babylonians began a 13-year siege of Tyre. It lasted from 586 BC to 573 BC. (Alexander the Great later destroyed the island portion of Tyre, in 332 BC).

Fulfilled Prophecy: Tyre’s fortresses would fail

Bible prophecy: Amos 1:9-10
Prophecy written: About 750 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: 333-332 BC

In Amos 1:9-10, the prophet said that God would cause Tyre’s protective fortresses to fail, as punishment for the way that Tyre treated Israel. That prophecy was fulfilled in 586-573 BC when Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar attacked the mainland of Tyre, and in 333-332 BC when Alexander the Great conquered the island of Tyre. Alexander’s army built a land bridge from the mainland to the island so that they could use a battering ram to break through the island’s fortress.

Fulfilled Prophecy: Tyre would be attacked by many nations

In Ezekiel 26:3, the prophet said that Tyre, the Phoenician Empire’s most powerful city, would be attacked by many nations, because of its treatment of Israel. At about the time that Ezekiel delivered this prophecy, Babylon had begun a 13-year attack on Tyre’s mainland. Later, in about 332 BC, Alexander the Great conquered the island of Tyre and brought an end to the Phoenician Empire.

Fulfilled Prophecy: Tyre’s stones, timber and soil would be cast into the sea

Bible prophecy: Ezekiel 26:12

Prophecy fulfilled: 333-332 BC

In Ezekiel 26:12, the prophet said that Tyre’s stones, timber and soil would be thrown into the sea. Ezekiel’s prophecy accurately describes how Alexander the Great built a land bridge from the mainland to the island of Tyre, when he attacked in 333-332 BC. Alexander’s forces took rubble from Tyre’s mainland and tossed it – stones, timber and soil – into the sea, to build the land bridge (which is still there).

Fulfilled Prophecy: Tyre would lose its power over the sea

Bible prophecy: Zechariah 9:3-4
Prophecy written: Between 520 and 518 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: Since 332 BC

In Zechariah 9:3-4, the prophet said that the Phoenician city of Tyre would lose its status as a powerful nation on the Mediterranean Sea. Today there is a city called Tyre that is either on, or near, the original Phoenician site. But this Tyre is a small city in modern-day Lebanon. It is certainly not the powerful nation that it was in the days of Zechariah.

Fulfilled Prophecy: Phoenician Tyre would never again be found

Bible prophecy: Ezekiel 26:21
Prophecy written: Between 587-586 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: After 332 BC

In Ezekiel 26:21, the prophet said that the Phoenician city of Tyre would be brought to an end and would never again be found. When Alexander the Great destroyed the city in 332 BC, he brought an end to the Phoenician Empire. The Empire was never revived or “found” again. As for the city itself, it has been torn down and built upon by a succession of foreign powers. Today, finding artifacts from the original Phoenician Tyre is difficult. According to the Columbia Encyclopedia, Fifth Edition: “The principal ruins of the city today are those of buildings erected by the Crusaders. There are some Greco-Roman remains, but any left by the Phoenicians lie underneath the present town.”

Fulfilled Prophecy: Phoenician Tyre would never be rebuilt

Bible prophecy: Ezekiel 26:14
Prophecy written: Between 587-586 BC
Prophecy fulfilled: Since 332 BC

In Ezekiel 26:14, the prophet says the Phoenician city of Tyre would be destroyed and never be rebuilt. This was fulfilled when Alexander the Great conquered Tyre in 332 BC. His conquest brought an end to the Phoenician Empire. The empire never recovered from the attack. And so, it could never rebuild Tyre. Other nations and empires have built and rebuilt cities on or near the original Phoenician site.
