38And Elisha came again to Gilgal: and there was a dearth in the land; and the sons of the prophets wre sitting before him: and he said unto his servant, Set on the great pot, and seethe pottage for the sons of the prophets. 39 And one went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered thereof wild gourds his lap full, and came and shred them into the pot of pottage: for they knew them not. 40 So they poured out for the men to eat. And it came to pass, as they were eating of the pottage, that they cried out, and said, O thou man of God, there is death in the pot. And they could not eat thereof. 41 But he said, Then bring meal. And he cast it into the pot; and he said, Pour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot.

Intercessions for Our Commonwealth. [Family / Kindred / Nation]

[Discipleship Understanding:]

  • There was dearth in the land. The prevailing conditions of the land have high tendency to determine the experiences of its inhabitants: both for good and ill.
  • One went into the field: Men must of a necessity go into the fields of life [‘all the world’] to meet the needs of the season. The choices they make, will bear fruits which will impact on the general commonwealth of those who share the pot with them.
  • and found a wild vine: In the world we will find everything! Things which tend to Life and things which tend to Death. Things which God has set in place and those things the enemy offers.
  • and gathered thereof wild gourds his lap full, and came and shred them into the pot of pottage: for they knew them not. The choices they/we make will impact +vely OR -vely on others sharing in the commonwealth, sometimes even into future generations to come.
  • And they could not eat thereof: Those choices will influence the dimension of rest that can be attained to in the commonwealth.
  • they cried out, and said, O thou man of God, there is death in the pot: Until we resist the unpalatable and engage legimately higher authority from another dimension, there will be no succour!
  • In Christ we not only have a portion in the Kingdom commonwealth which is not of this world and of greater glory than it, We also have the chance to invite eternal change from every situation of death into life in our domains.

Prayer Point #1: [personal]

  • Jesus you are the ‘The way’ which is experientially and supernaturally above every manifestations of dearth in the land. Isa 35:8-9 Today I acknowledge your finished work on the cross for me which has grafted me out of the wild olive of anaemic roots. I proclaim my exemption by the mystery of grafting in Romans 11:17 and command that every ongoing work of the enemy to continue to entrap me in that which I am no longer a part of must now stop in Jesus name!.
    • I declare my spiritual life far and above the dearth in the land!
    • I declare my economic life to be far and above the dearth in the land!
    • I declare my marital life to be far and above the dearth in the land!
    • I declare my social life to be far and above the dearth in the land!
  • Your word has already guaranteed me in Job 22:29 that in so far as i continue to remain humble, then “When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up;” I repent from any situationof pride and humble myself before your mighty hand.
  • Glory & Lifter up of my Head: By your divine hand end every active, dormant and cyclical “Harm” that I have been eating from the spiritual/economic/marital/social pot!

Prayer Point #2: [familial]

  • In the name of Jesus, every manifestation of dearth and death that has been finding expression in diverse areas of my fathers house and familial commonwealth. Lord Jesus i cry out to you on my family’s behalf to cast into the pot – Life more abundant!!! John 10:10
  • Lord Jesus, Input wisdom+knowledge+understanding into our decision making as a family and nullify every fruit of death cultivated from generations of ignorant and foolish choices!
  • I specially raise a prophetic voice into the destiny of our children and children to come that by the impartation of your Holy Spirit, Distinguish them in decision making as you did Daniel-Shedrach-Meshach and Abednego in the land of Babylon. I prophesy that their own teeth ‘shall not be set on edge’ as that of their forbears: for they will not eat grapes as their fathers did! Jeremiah 31:29
  • Kinsman Redeemer: By your divine hand end every active, dormant and cyclical “Harm” that we have been eating from the family and kindred pot!

Prayer Point #3: [national]

  • Lord of Hosts! By your mighty hand, call forth the catalyst of change – [be it in a person, in an event, or in a movement] into the commonwealth pot of this land and this nation! Let every harvest of dearth and death which has been mixed into the pot of our national life by the wicked and selfish choices of our leaders be arrested now!
  • Arise and help us for the sake of your righteous ones – so that we and your heritage may eat the good of the land!
  • Our Ebenezer! By your merciful hand put an end to every “Harm” that has been in our educational, financial, healthcare, security and political systems. The time to manifest the Joseph’s and Daniel’s and David’s that will administer us out of subjugation into empowerment has come!

Prayer Point #4: [collaborative]

  • Refiner! You have demanded in Roman 12:1 that i “submit my life as a living sacrifice wholly and acceptable to you as my act of reasonable service“. Here i am again to do just that.
  • Come with your refining fire and sanctify, purge and purify all of my channels and gates! Do this in order that every hindrance and obstacle to free flow of your hand and spirit through my life be eliminated!
  • I desire that your name be glorified as you manifest your love through my vessel to visit kingdom change upon all the lives and territories you bring me in contact with!

AMEN

May hunger and pressure not cause us to rush to eat/do things that will invite the plague in the land to dwell with us and our generations! Thank God for Christ whose life is the ingredient that can counteract the death we are already being served from the negligent choices of those who have gone aheas of us. In Christ we nullify and make new for the next generation a more palatable dish!
